The Department of Physical Education, established at the end of 2017, is a secondary teaching management unit of Jinling Institute of Technology. It consists of a general office, an academic affairs office, three teaching and research sections (the First Teaching and Research Section, the Second Teaching and Research Section, and the Third Teaching and Research Section), and two teaching and researching centers (Center for Ice and Snow Sports Culture Research and Center for Emergency Rescure Training).

Currently, the Department of Physical Education has 41 in-service faculty members, including 2 cadres at the departmental level, 3 administrative staff, and 36 full-time teachers. Among the teaching staff, there are 3 professors, 14 associate professors, 18 lecturers, 3 assistant professors. There are also 4 doctors and 2 doctors in candidacy, 2 national-level referees, 17 national first-level referees. There are 1 national-level sports fitness coach, 4 sports masters, 4 first-level athletes, and 13 individuals who have obtained the "Rescue Instructor Certificate" issued by the China Red Cross Society.
The Department of Physical Education primarily undertakes various tasks such as physical education teaching, sports training, sports scientific research, student physical health testing, and the organization of intramural and extramural competitions for the entire school. It offers 1 basic course, 18 specialized courses, and 1 health care course. Twelve school sports teams have been established and have achieved remarkable results in recent provincial and municipal competitions. Each year, the department hosts 8 special events at the school sports meet, actively mobilizing students' enthusiasm for sports.
