The School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering is one of the earliest departments established in Jinling Institute of Science and Technology. Now it offers five undergraduate majors, including mechanical design, manufacturing and automation, Electrical engineering and automation, vehicle engineering, Building Electrical and intelligence, and intelligent Manufacturing engineering. Among them, the building electrical and intelligent major is the only brand major in Jiangsu Province and the comprehensive reform pilot major of the Ministry of Education, and the national first-class undergraduate major construction point. The major of mechanical design, manufacturing and automation is a provincial specialty and a first-class professional construction point in Jiangsu Province. The vehicle engineering major is a first-class professional construction point in Jiangsu Province. At the same time, the college has two provincial key professional categories of mechanical engineering and civil engineering, provincial key construction discipline of control science and engineering, Nanjing Key discipline of Mechanical Engineering and Nanjing key cultivation discipline of electrical engineering.

The College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering consists of four departments: Mechanical Engineering Department, Electrical Engineering Department, Building Intelligent Department, Vehicle Engineering Department, mechanical and electrical experiment Center, Building intelligent Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and Vehicle Engineering Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, as well as Jiangsu Green Intelligent Building Engineering Technology Research Center, Jiangsu Intelligent Building Monitoring Technology Engineering Laboratory, and Jiangsu Fire Engineering Technology Research Center Research center and other provincial scientific research platform. The school has carried out in-depth school-enterprise cooperation with the world's top 500 companies such as ABB, SIEMENS, and GE, and has built an on-campus internship innovation base with high standards of similar universities to jointly train application-oriented engineering and technical talents. Good experimental facilities have created good conditions for cultivating students' innovation and entrepreneurship ability and enhancing employment competitiveness. In the past year, students have started 5 companies and won nearly 3 million yuan of venture capital from the government and enterprises.

The college has a reasonable structure and high professional quality of the teaching staff, the existing staff 98, including 44 full, associate professor, doctoral degree accounted for 51% of the total number of teachers. The teachers and students of the College have the distinctive characteristics of seeking truth, being pragmatic and daring to innovate. They have a good learning style, standardized management and excellent teaching quality. They have made excellent achievements in scientific research, scientific and technological services, industry-university cooperation, innovation and entrepreneurship education, and have always been at the forefront of education and teaching reform. The college has won the honorary titles of Jiangsu Province Advanced grass-roots Party Organization, Nanjing Education System Advanced Group of teacher Ethics, Nanjing Advanced League Branch, etc. The school has won the annual target Management Excellence Award and Teaching Quality Engineering Excellence Award every year. More than 30 teachers have been honored as National Excellent Teachers and young and middle-aged academic leaders in Jiangsu Province. Our students come from Jiangsu Province and all over the country. In all kinds of national discipline competitions and skill competitions, the achievements of mechanical and electrical students are among the best. Every year, a group of students are awarded university-level scholarships, national awards and bursaries, provincial merit students, outstanding university graduates, outstanding student leaders and other honors. The enrollment rate of graduates with master's degrees has remained above 15%.
